Kyiv: Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky warned Sunday that Russia was likely to intensify its "hostile activity" this week, as Kyiv awaits a historic decision from the European Union on its membership application.
Nearly three months after Russia launched a bloody invasion of his country, Zelensky said there had been "few such fateful decisions for Ukraine" as the one it expects from the EU this week, adding in his evening address that "only a positive decision is in the interests of the whole of Europe." "Obviously, we expect Russia to intensify hostile activity this week ... We are preparing. We are ready," he continued. Ukraine said it had also repulsed fresh attacks by Russian forces on the eastern front, rocked by weeks of fierce battles as Moscow tries to seize the industrial Donbas region. Earlier, Zelensky vowed his troops would not give up the south of the country, after he visited the frontline there. But Zelensky's defiance came as NATO's chief Jens Stoltenberg warned that the war could grind on "for years" and urged Western countries to be ready to offer long-term military, political and economic aid. The video of American president Joe Biden falling off a bike is going viral. The incident happened at a beach in Delaware. He can be seen stopping the bicycle at a junction amid much cheering and then falling down while the bike is stationary. It appears that his shoes got entangled in the spokes of the cycle and he lost his balance.
“My friend just filmed Joe Biden @POTUS falling off his bike no joke. Just happened at Rehoboth Beach." “Joe Biden fell off his bike this morning at the beach in Delaware." Netizens said that such bike mishaps are common. “His right sneaker got stuck in the peddle, he tried to lift it off the peddle and place it on the ground, so that he can shift his weight to the right leg. I saw an exact same fall when my son had come to a halt in the park, last week. A common accident." According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the rupee depreciated sharply by Rs2.55 to hit an all-time low of Rs210.3 against the dollar from Friday's close of Rs207.75. In the open market the greenback was trading at Rs212 as of 10:30am.
Saeed Bin Naseer, director of Mettis Global, told Dawn.com that the rupee remained under pressure on the first day of the week due to the news of banks running out of dollars over the weekend. "The dearth of dollar at banks resulted in low or negative swap premiums as the country’s foreign exchange reserves continue to run dry," he pointed out. An announcement from the IMF regarding the revival of the loan programme or updates on inflows from China could help stablise the exchange rate, Naseer added. According to Mettis Global — a web-based financial data and analytics portal — the rupee incurred a colossal loss of Rs6.4 during five consecutive sessions last week. Macron’s centrist Ensemble coalition, which wants to raise the retirement age and further deepen EU integration, was on course to end up with the most seats in Sunday’s election. But they will be well short of the absolute majority needed to control parliament, near-final results showed. A broad left-wing alliance was set to be the biggest opposition group, while the far-right scored record-high wins and the conservatives were likely to become kingmakers. Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire called the outcome a “democratic shock” and added that if other blocs did not cooperate, “this would block our capacity to reform and protect the French.” A hung parliament will require a degree of power-sharing and compromises among parties not experienced in France in recent decades. Speaking on her YouTube channel Rise Beyond Abuse, Angelica reveals the Aquaman star's lying capabilities. "What I have seen throughout this trial are the symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder. I agree with the diagnosis of borderline personality disorder," she began. Commenting on Amber's statement of standing by her accusations against ex-husband Johnny Depp 'till her dying day,' the therapist continues: "Right here, she says she will stand by her testimony until she dies. Of course, the thing with the narcissist is that they lie. What is the motto of the narcissist? Lie till you die." Angelica adds: "It has been her way of life since a very early age. One of her defence mechanisms is to lie. The became what she has become because of emotional and physical abuse. " "Lying is second nature for her, it is a way of life. This whole trial has been one big lie on her part. Many of us, real survivors of domestic violence agree to that," she noted. Amber Heard owes $8 million to Depp for defamation. The actress was found to be having malicious motives against releasing a 2018 op-ed on domestic violence, allegedly accusing the ex-husband. Three flight incidents were reported from different states on Sunday. A SpiceJet aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at the Bihta Airforce Station in Patna after the flight's left wing caught fire. All 185 passengers are reportedly safe. Airport sources said that the flight was a Boeing 727.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has confirmed that a bird hit led to the failure of Engine 1 on the Patna-Delhi SpiceJet aircraft. All 185 passengers were evacuated safely. During rotation, the cockpit crew suspected a bird hit Engine 1. Since the crew did not observe any abnormality, the aircraft continued to climb further. Once the cabin crew noticed sparks coming out of Engine 1, they informed the Pilot-in-Command, who immediately requested an emergency landing. In another incident, a Jabalpur-bound SpiceJet flight landed back at the Delhi Airport after it failed to regain the cabin pressure differential even after attaining a height of 6,000 ft on Sunday. According to a SpiceJet spokesperson, crew onboard Q400 aircraft SG-2962 noticed the cabin pressure differential was not building up along with the rise in cabin altitude on takeoff from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. The plane levelled off at 6,000 feet, but the pressurisation was not regained. The pilot in command then decided to return to Delhi, where the plane safely landed, the official added. In the third incident, a Delhi-bound IndiGo flight (6E 6394) from Guwahati returned to Guwahati airport due to a suspected bird hit after the takeoff. All passengers were accommodated on another flight to Delhi. Aircraft being inspected, ANI reported an Indigo official as saying. 6/17/2022 Flexibility emanates from the regulated players which have been dominating the market for a long time - Shyam Maheshwari (SSG) on credit market outlookRead Now![]() Shyam Maheshwari is a founder and partner at ARES SSG. Shyam Maheshwari is also an Associate Member at the institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Shyam Maheshwari begins his career in 1999 at Lehman Brothers. He has 17 years of experience in deal sourcing, analysing and investing industry. Previously, Shyam Maheshwari served as a Senior Member of the Lehman Brothers Asia Special Situations Group primarily responsible for making principal investments in India. After an exceptional career in Ares SSG, Shyam Maheshwari stepped down from the firm in July 2021 to spend more time with his family. Shyam Maheshwari thinks that taking what he said on the flexibility, also emanates from the regulated players which have been dominating the market for a long time whether it is a bank or a non-bank. He considers the first one as regulated and the second one as leveraged. According to him, the leverage platforms have certain constraints which were shown when IFS has happened in terms of whether it is LLM or it is provisioning norms. On speaking about flexibility, Shyam Maheshwari identifies that it is available in two ways. “Flexibility is available in terms of speed. Flexibility is also available in terms of crafting a solution which is meeting the need of the borrower then. It could be for capital formation, which is quite a constraint in terms of financing from the traditional sector in India”, Shyam Maheshwari says. According to him, the third is real estate and the fourth is intangibles. Shyam Maheshwari considers a lot of these sectors as the building blocks of the country especially of the real estate which does not get adequate attention from the banking sector. Shyam Maheshwari SSG explains that, coming to the ground, people expect certain sectors have more need. But it seems like the need has grown rapidly at least in terms of number enquiries. The need required in certain sectors exceeds the need that the sector expects. He says that in reality, this is primarily because of constraints especially at this point where the banking sector is running double-digit MPL ratios. Shyam Maheshwari recognizes that there had been certain comfort for the investors from the global perspective because there is an IBC process in place. There is creditor protection which is increasing and improving over time. The access to the market remains open and improving, he says. But still Shyam Maheshwari SSG Captial considers that there is a lot that could be done to advance the market conditions. One way to make this possible is in the form of access, which is currently only available to the foreign participant in the form of either ECB in dollar terms or in rupee. Bond market has certain nuances and constraints at this point. But Shyam Maheshwari is ecstatic to see the signs that it has been opening up in the last decade or so. US President Joe Biden on Friday said he shared a very good relationship with India and hoped to visit the country again. "I have been to India twice and will be back. My relationship with (India is) very good," Biden said talking to reporters as he left on a weekend trip to his home in Delaware.
The comments came a day after State Department spokesperson Ned Price asserted the US-New Delhi ties remain intact despite New Delhi's relationship with Moscow amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. "We have had a number of discussions with our Indian partners, and the point that we have made is that every country is going to have a different relationship with Moscow," Price said. The US is there for India and this message has been made clear to the Indian partners, Ned Price said."...India's relationship with Russia was built up over the course of many decades, as countries reorient their relationship with Moscow, as we have seen many of them do. This will be a gradual process. But throughout it all, we have made clear to our Indian partners that we are there for them. We are ready and able, and willing to partner with them. And we've done just that," Ned Price said. The US noted the Prophet row and said it is glad that the BJP condemned the comments made by two BJP officials. "We encourage India to promote respect for human rights. The Secretary (of State) said, when he was in New Delhi last year, that the Indian people and the American people believe in the same values: human dignity, human respect, equality of opportunity, and the freedom of religion or belief," Price said. New Delhi: With the protests against the new military recruitment scheme spreading to eight states, the government today announced 10 per cent reservation for 'Agniveers' in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles. The Ministry of Home Affairs also announced three years' age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit to Agniveers for recruitment in the two paramilitary forces.
The first batch of Agniveer will get age relaxation of five years beyond the prescribed upper age limit, it said. Read More : https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/agnipath-protests-home-ministry-announces-10-reservation-for-agniveers-in-central-police-forces-assam-rifles-3077943 |
